IBF welterweight champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis retained his title in the rematch against Ukrainian Karen Chukhadzhian at the Wells Fargo Center in his hometown of Philadelphia on Saturday 9th November. The fight was more compelling and closer than the first time they met, but it was the same result, with Ennis winning a unanimous decision 119-107, 117-109, and 116-110 in his second defence of his title.
Chukhadzhian, the IBF mandatory challenger, endeavoured throughout the twelve rounds, standing his ground for most of the fight, landing with more success than in the first fight rocking Ennis on several occasions, Ennis was on the brink of victory in the fifth round after a barrage of body shorts hurt Chukhadzhian, who took a knee to regain composure. Ennis's father and trainer, Derek `Bozy` Ennis shouted at his son to “Get him out of here.” Chukhadzhian had a point deducted in the tenth round for constantly being warned regarding excessive holding. After the fight, Ennis mentioned that if he cannot get unification fights, he will move to 154 pounds to get the big fights.
The lineal and WBC super flyweight champion P4P star Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez marched to a one-sided conclusive victory with a sensational third-round knockout of interim titleholder Pedro Guevara in a mandatory defence to become the first man to stop Guevara.
Rodriguez embraced sharing a card in Ennis` hometown, viewing it as an opportunity to gain a new fan base on the East Coast. Rodriguez is already a star on the west coast. Rodriguez is one of the hottest fighters in the sport right now, retained his title and will be looking for unification fights in 2025 or could move to bantamweight.
The former WBA featherweight titleholder Raymond Ford made a statement in the super featherweight division as he dominated, looking sharp in his first fight at the new weight. Ford scored two knockdowns in the fight in the second and the eighth rounds, with beautifully timed right hooks, and looked comfortable at 130 pounds.
Two judges scored it a shutout 100-88, while the third gave Gonzalez one round 99-89.
Ford was boxing for the first time since his split decision loss to Nick Ball in June in the aftermath of the fight, a showdown with IBF mandatory challenger Matc Sugar Nunez or newly crowned WBC champion O'Shaquie Foster could now happen.
Previously unbeaten in nine fights, Matchroom Boxing light-heavyweight rising star Khalil Coe suffered a shock defeat to Manuel Gallegos, dropped four times before the fight was waved off just seven seconds in the ninth round as referee Eric Dali had seen Coe endure enough punishment.
In the early rounds, Coe showed his class but was ground down by the body punching of Galleos. Coe was valiant in defeat but dropped in the fifth, seventh and eighth before the fight ended in the next round. Coe, hoping to return and re-group, made a heartfelt social media post following his first defeat.
Austin “Ammo” Williams returned to winning ways in convincing fashion against Gian Garrido, winning comfortably in the fifth round following his defeat in June in the Matchroom vs Queensbury Promotions five versus five against Hamzah Sheeraz.
