SHEERAZ vs DENNY
Hamzah Sheeraz produced an emphatic second round stoppage to defeat Tyler Denny and claim the European middleweight title. Denny was floored in the opening seconds with a flash left hook before finishing the job with another stunning headshot in the second round as the referee waved the fight off. Sheeraz, in the aftermath of the fight, called out Eubank Jr, who previously turned down the fight, with a guarantee of five million dollars. Sheeraz is also the mandatory challenger to WBC world middleweight champion Carlos Adames.
BUATSI vs HUTCHINSON
Joshua Buatsi defeated Willy Hutchinson by split decision, flooring Hutchinson in the sixth and ninth rounds to secure victory with scores of 117-108 and 115-110 to earn the WBO interim light-heavyweight title. Bizarrely, one judge strangely scored it 113-112 in favour of Hutchinson. Buatsi, is mandatory for the WBO light-heavyweight champion. A fight that has been discussed, and never materialised is the two- time world champion challenger, Anthony Yarde, which would be a massive fight in Britain.
CACACE vs WARRINGTON
Anthony Cacace, IBF super featherweight champion, sealed a unanimous decision win after a spirited effort from former world champion Josh Warrington. The IBF title was not at stake due to the ruling from the governing body, but Cacace won with scores of 118-110, 117-111, and 117-111. Warrington, in the aftermath of the fight, placed his gloves on the canvas, signalling the end of a fantastic career. Cacace has 90 days to negotiate a fight with mandatory challenger Sugar Nunez or could also move up to lightweight.
KELLY vs DAVIS
Josh Kelly endured a torrid final round before closing out a majority decision victory over late replacement Ishmael Davis. Kelly was bloodied and forced to retreat after receiving a flurry of uppercuts as Davis desperately searched for a late stoppage. Kelly had done enough early in the fight. The judges scored the fight 115-113 and 115-114, while the third official scored it a 114-114 draw. Kelly, who was campaigning at middleweight for the firsttime in his career, will have options at both light-middleweight, and also middleweight. Davis’s manager, Sunny Edwards, confirmed that Davis would get another opportunity, receiving credit for taking the fight on five days’ notice.
PADLEY vs CHAMBERLAIN
Josh Padley dropped and shocked Mark Chamberlain, winning a unanimous decision. Padley landed with a left hook in the eighth round, to floor Chamberlain, was also deducted a point after repeated infringements. All three judges scored it for Padley 95-93, 96-92 and 96-92. Padley, after rolling the dice and defeating Chamberlain, has now climbed to number three on the British lightweight rankings.
