Shakur Stevenson (22-0 10 KOs), 2016 Olympic silver medallist, three-weight world champion and current WBC lightweight champion has signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing.

Hearn has spoken highly of Stevenson and has been talking to him and his team after his contract expired with Top Rank, who promoted him since turning professional. Stevenson's last outing was a one-sided decision over Artem Harutyunyan on July 6th to defend his WBC lightweight title for a second time.

Stevenson’s first fight with Matchroom will take place on the light-heavyweight unification fight headlined by Artur Berterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol, October 12th, part of the Riyadh season, as the co-main event facing former IBF super featherweight Joe Cordina (17-1 9 KOs). Cordina last fight was a defeat to Anthony Cacace on 18th May.

Stevenson stated, “I am ready to start this next chapter of my career, and it begins on October 12th. I’ve made it clear that I want the biggest names and the biggest fights in the sport. With Matchroom and Riyadh season, I am teaming up with a promotional force that matches my talent.”

William Zepeda (31-0 27 KOs), the mandatory challenger for Stevenson WBC lightweight title, has agreed to step aside due to the birth of his child and has agreed to face Stevenson early in 2025. The question on everyone minds will be whether Matchroom can make the Gervonta Davis fight.
